About us

Hopi Bonaire means A lot of Bonaire in Papiamentu, the native language on the island. With our name, we express the versatility of this extraordinary island that we are fortunate to call home. The stunning underwater world, charming beaches, mountainous north, lush mangroves, pink salt flats, rugged east coast, picturesque Kralendijk, and the characteristic Rincon… there is so much to experience on this tiny speck in the Atlantic Ocean! We are eager to let you personally experience the versatility on our private tours. With our private tours, we strive for quality. Hopi bon! Very good!

We are Jessica and Bas Ronteltap. Our adventure on Bonaire started in 2021. Bas had quit his job as a teacher to write a photography book, and Jessica brought her work as a marketing and communications specialist to Bonaire. Next to our work, we had plenty of free time to explore the island. Jokingly, we said to each other that we wanted to “complete” Bonaire. We have come a long way, but we are still discovering new places and activities on the island.

Since our relocation to Bonaire, we have had the pleasure of welcoming many friends. We always enthusiastically share the richness of our new home. Out of that enthusiasm, HopiBonaire was born.

During our tours, we love to visit places that remain hidden to a large part of Bonaire’s visitors because they are not located along paved roads. Yet, there is so much beauty to see here, and even more interesting background stories to tell. Even in our new life on Bonaire, we still love to share our stories!
