The 2 of us did the Gems of the East Tour. Sebastian had so much to tell us. We visited places you would never find on your own. They were truly hidden gems. We enjoyed it immensely. The weather was also on our side. It was a bit stormy, which made it truly spectacular at the blowholes.
We were well provided with snacks and drinks. We had a small picnic by the lighthouse. We went into a beautiful cave. You were given plenty of time to take your own photos. There was absolutely no pressure. Everything was perfectly organized. In between, we continued our journey comfortably in the very comfortable car.
Bas took beautiful photos that were sent to us afterwards. We can recommend this tour to everyone. The tour truly lives up to its name. You see nothing but gems. Thanks, Sebastian.
We had a great morning tour with Sebastian to the Gems of the East. At our request he also added Lac Cai, because we had not been able to get there with our car last week.
We had received good advice beforehand (closed shoes, no toilets), so we were well prepared. We saw beautiful spots on the roughest side of the island. In terms of comfort there was the pick up that could handle everything, the cookies and drinks, and even a break with chairs, a little table and tasty fruit. A real dessert were the photos we received afterwards: a very thoughtful souvenir!
We joined HopiBonaire to explore the wild east coast, and it was one of the highlights of our trip.
This tour shows a completely different side of Bonaire, rugged cliffs, powerful Atlantic waves, dramatic blowholes, and breathtaking views from above. We discovered the “lost” Bonaire of old plantations and roaming goats, visited the evocative lighthouse and keeper’s house, and ended in ancient caves where the first human traces of the island can still be seen through lithoglyphs.
It felt immersive, authentic, and rich in history.
Our guide, Bas, made it exceptional. His stories, insights, and attention to detail transformed the experience into something far beyond a simple sightseeing tour.
If you want to see the raw, cultural soul of Bonaire, this is the tour to choose. Highly recommended.
My mom and I took the sunrise Gems of the East Tour and had an amazing time.
Sebastian was a terrific guide and host: he drove us to sites we’d have never seen on our own, shared historical and ecological facts, and provided lots of delicious homemade treats. He also takes wonderful photos that he shared with us after the tour.
The tour itself is a perfect blend of natural and historical sites, culminating in an incredible cave and indigenous rock paintings. Whether you love wildlife, ruins, or just brutally beautiful landscapes, there’s so much to enjoy on this tour.
A couple heads-ups for those thinking about this tour: (1) there are no public bathrooms, just some secluded spots in the wilderness; (2) the hike is cactus-heavy, so wear good shoes with thick soles that won’t slip easily. If you’re okay with that, then this tour is an A+ must-go for those looking for an uncommon adventure.
My daughter and I took an early morning Gems of the East tour and we highly recommend it! Getting up for the sunrise was totally worth it.
Sebastian was so friendly and gave us great information about the island. Getting off the beaten path and seeing Bonaire in a way that most people don’t, was a truly amazing experience.
Sebastian provided tasty snacks and took some really cool pictures he later shared. You will have a wonderful adventure with Sebastian!
We did the East Tour with Sebastian. Perfectly organized, visited a lot of impressive place unknown for all lot of people here in Bonaire. And with each place we learned a more about the historischen of Bonaire.
For sure, on our next Bonaire trip we will find another good tour.
Beautiful tour through the lesser-known eastern side of the island with our family, guided by Sebastian from Hopi Bonaire. We saw and learned so much, and afterwards we even received some beautiful photos.
In addition to exploring the island on our own with a rental car, this was truly a highlight. We visited places we would never have found by ourselves, and Sebastian shared so much knowledge about the island. To finish, we enjoyed a lovely walk with him and ended the day watching the sunset over a drink.
Thanks for the wonderful afternoon/evening.
Together with family we did an East Coast tour guided by Sebastian. Even though we have been living on the island for a while, we had not yet seen this beautiful part of nature. Sebastian gave us a wonderful morning and with his historical stories he showed us how this beautiful island came to be.
For an island tour we would definitely choose HopiBonaire again. We have fallen in love with this lovely island all over again! Masha danki!
We did the Gems of the East tour and it was amazing! I can’t say enough good things about Sebastian and HopiBonaire tours!
Sebastian picked us up on time provided coffee and wonderful conversation and information on the drive to the East. Once there he also provided some morning snacks for breakfast. He also provided a tasty lunch and drinks throughout the tour. We did the sunrise tour and it was well worth the 5:45 am wake-up call. The sunrise was gorgeous. The blow holes are spectacular! Sebastian continued to provide great information about the island and its history, which we loved learning.
On our hike we rescued a flamingo, which we loved being a part of. Sebastian kept us updated on his recovery, we we greatly appreciated!
The East side is rugged but still beautiful! I would highly recommend using HopiBonaire for this tour or any they offer, you won’t be disappointed!
Had a great morning with Sebastian. He showed us the gems of the east and told us a lot about the history, but also about the present and now! A nice cup of coffee in between or a soda. A moment to relax on a chair and enjoy the surroundings. Even murder stories came up! Super!
We really had a great time!! Highly recommended, even if you’ve already seen a large part of the island yourself! And now it’s time to look at Sebastian’s photos, because they come as a little gift afterwards… 🌞🥳
An unforgettable adventure with a fantastic private guide!
Our tour with HopiBonaire was absolutely one of the highlights of our trip to Bonaire! We explored the hidden gems of the east, far from the beaten path, and what an adventure it was! From rugged roads to breathtaking views over the wild sea, mysterious caves, and an abundance of stunning birds and bats. Every stop was a new spectacle.
It was amazing to see how our guide combined his passion for nature and photography throughout the tour. He shared so much knowledge about Bonaire’s nature and history! At the same time, he struck the perfect balance between adventure and comfort. Our kids were completely in their element and enjoyed every minute!
What made this experience even more special was the way our guide took such great care of us. While we soaked in the views with our children, Bas magically produced something to eat and drink. Everything was prepared with care and attention and was incredibly fresh! It was truly a moment of pure relaxation.
If you really want to discover Bonaire, away from the crowds, this private tour is an absolute must. Bas and Jessica, a huge thank you for this unforgettable day and the beautiful photos to remember it by!
The ReismaatjesXpress2.0 went on an adventure with Bas from Hopi Bonaire. We had an amazing afternoon and learned a lot about the origins and history of Bonaire. The stops along the way were memorable and impressive. We truly enjoyed the stunning views and landscapes. The excellent explanations and thoughtful care made the trip absolutely complete.
Thank you, Bas, also for the beautiful pictures you sent us. If you ever visit Bonaire, Hopi Bonaire is definitely a must!
If you want a truly unique tour experience, I would highly recommend this one due to its individual and personal nature. We did the Gems of the East Coast, a beautiful off-road tour that you can’t easily do on your own and isn’t offered by other organizations, making it very unique.
We called last minute for the next day and were even able to be picked up before sunrise. The route itself was stunningly beautiful, and the explanations were extensive and passionate. We were given insights into the geological aspects of the area, knowledge about the fauna and flora, explanations about the historical and cultural background, and a better understanding of the current political landscape. The tour was top-notch, with delicious homemade iced tea and fresh fruit salad. Afterwards, we received beautiful detailed photos of the animals we had seen, which we couldn’t have captured with our phones.
We have done multiple excursions with larger, well-known organizations that work with the hotels, but this is incomparable to what we saw and heard here. It’s a pity we did this tour on the last day of our vacation; otherwise, we would have certainly booked the rest of our excursions here as well. An absolute recommendation in every aspect!
Ohhhh, Bonaire is so versatile. I would have never dared to explore the extraordinary rugged Gems of the East without Bas and Jessica. They know exactly where to go and where not to go, taking you to the truly undiscovered spots along that remarkable east coast. And how extraordinary the East Coast is, you will hear during the tour.
If, like me, you have an insatiable curiosity, HopiBonaire is the place to be. They provided well-founded answers to all my questions about nature, rocks, coral, and the history of the area, with extra tidbits of information as a bonus. And since the tours are private, there’s plenty of flexibility to tailor the experience to your own curiosity. If you’re more into peculiar nature, they’ll take you to strange and unique spots. If you want to see birds, they’ll go birdwatching. If you’re interested in the geographical wonders of the East Coast, they’ll guide you through caves adorned with ancient drawings.
So do yourself a favor and book a delightful (and well-catered) tour with Hopi.
If you want to discover the treasures of Bonaire, you don’t have to look any further and you definitely should book a tour with HopiBonaire. We did the surprising “Gems of the East” Tour.
Guide and photographer Sebastian is very passionate and shares interesting (background) stories and historical facts about Bonaire with a lot of passion and enthusiasm. His knowledge about the flora, fauna, and history of the island is impressive.
The off-road private tour is very diverse, and you visit various types of places that you wouldn’t easily find on your own. The snacks and drinks are also very well taken care of.
We are much richer for this super beautiful experience and have learned a lot from it.
This afternoon, we went on the Gems of the East tour with Sebastian from HopiBonaire, and we had an amazing time. Not only did we see the highlights, but also the lesser-known gems that are more than worth it. Bas had an incredible amount of knowledge, and we learned many fascinating things.
Before, during, and after the tour, we had a fantastic experience. Highly recommended!!
We did two tours with Bas and Jessica with our family: Gems of the East and Washington-Slagbaai, both amazing! They tailored the tours to our specific wishes. Additionally, Bas is extremely well-versed in the history of Bonaire, as well as its flora and fauna. He provides a lot of background information and knows the answer to almost every question, giving more meaning to everything you see.
Afterwards, he even sends photos he took during your tour, which completes the experience. Highly recommended!
Gems of the East is the Bonaire tour for advanced adventurers :-). Bas takes you off-road and shows you the fascinating nature of the island. He is deeply involved in the preservation of this unique piece of nature. He shares a lot of information and has ample knowledge to answer your questions.
Highly recommended for those who want something different and venture off the beaten path. Well-organized tour and entertaining. Definitely worth it.
The Gems of the East tour was absolutely incredible. My guides, Bas and Jessica, were so fun and knowledgeable. I loved learning about the rich history of this part of the island, seeing the wildlife, and watching the sea. I can’t wait to visit the island again soon and take about her fabulous tour with Hopi Bonaire.
Last week, I had the opportunity to join HopiBonaire on the Pearls of the East tour. I sent a last-minute message and was lucky enough to join the same afternoon. Excellent service!
The tour was more than worth it. I got to see several extraordinary places on the island: the old plantation Bolivia, caves with rock paintings, a coastal blowhole, and various wildlife. And of course, a beautiful view from the top of the hill, with a cold beer. The guide had plenty of interesting information about all the places, plants, animals, and nature.
Thank you for this fantastic afternoon. I look back on this day in Bonaire with wonderful memories!
I did the Off-Road East Bonaire tour with Bas. What an experience and what a wealth of information we received. About the origin and history of Bonaire, the animal and plant life, and much more.
It was a fantastic adventure with a passionate and enjoyable guide!! The tour was even an exciting experience with lots of new information for my son, who has been living here for a few years. Check out his other tours too! Highly recommended!!!
With Bas, I’ve been on tour twice; the first was Gems of the East. I had a wonderful morning and visited places you wouldn’t easily reach with a rental car.
I enjoyed it so much that I booked another afternoon, which completely surprised me. I had indicated beforehand what I had already seen and done on Bonaire, so the tour was customized. And it was amazing! The nature is truly beautiful, and I saw a lot of different birds.
Bas’s knowledge and enthusiasm are very enjoyable and educational. I highly recommend booking a tour (or two) with HopiBonaire.
We’ve already booked the Washington Slagbaai tour with Hopi Bonaire at home and because we enjoyed this tour so much, we immediately added the Gems of the East tour.
With Bas as a private guide, you’ll experience an unforgettable day. We’ve seen so much, from blowholes, caracaras, iguanas, turtles, donkeys and of course, flamingos!
Bas has extensive knowledge and is enthusiastic. You visit places you wouldn’t normally go on your own. It’s also great that you don’t have to drive, allowing you to fully enjoy nature. Off-road Bas ensures that you navigate safely with the pickup. At the same time, he points out everything happening around you and takes beautiful photos, not only of the animals but also underwater during snorkeling.
During the excursion, you’re treated to a delicious lunch with a homemade salad, drinks, and tapenades. In short, a top-notch recommendation!
In late February, we did an eastern tour with Bas from Hopi Bonaire. We didn’t really know what to expect, but it turned out to be a super fun journey where Bas took the time for us and shared fascinating information about Bonaire, its landscape (formation), and the animals that live there.
We saw many sights, including Landhuis Washikemba, the blowhole, the beautiful Spelonkgrot with its Indian drawings, and the lighthouse of the same name, which involved a nice climb up Bara di Karta.
Had an amazing tour with HopiBonaire! Bas listens to your personal preferences and tailors his tour accordingly. Everything is taken care of, from pick-up and drop-off to snacks along the way 🙂
